Client Testimonials

I am Dana, a college professor who is deeply grateful to have worked with Claire. My road to Claire includes 1,000 miles, a promotion, a 30-year friendship, and a pandemic—so by the time I arrived to her coaching, I had a lot going on! Long story short, in spring 2021 I found myself unmoored and overworked, having relocated to a new job (with a promotion) just in time for a pandemic. My life was incredibly unbalanced and in danger of burnout. I had no boundaries. I had no fun. I had a to-do list that could stretch into infinity. I had a constant cycle of work, procrastination, disconnect from others, and guilt.

At the suggestion and support of a lifelong friend, I started working with Claire in hopes of seeking some work-life balance. I thought 'maybe we could work on organizing my schedule.' At the time, I wouldn’t even dare to say I was seeking joy… because what is that? Upon my first meeting with Claire, I was struck by how easy she was to talk with, how genuinely concerned she was for my professional (and personal well-being), and the honesty with which she spoke of her pathway to coaching. After a candid conversation that showed me just how unbalanced my life truly was, I was sold and knew I had to continue working with her.

Claire is a coach in the truest sense. She is encouraging, but holds you accountable. She celebrates wins, she helps you process loss. In each of my sessions, I never felt judged for uncertainty, doubt, or set-backs. She made my hopes for a more balanced life much more accessible and attainable by working with me to develop plans for my goals. As a professor, I am literally paid to have the answers—and it is hard to admit when I do not have them. I certainly did not have the answers regarding my own professional needs. However, Claire created a truly safe and affirming space to help me process and troubleshoot my own life. We never dwelled on the drawbacks; we assessed and developed better plans for success. I felt that I was working with someone who saw my potential, and was committed to helping me get there. From our sessions, I have much better balance than I have ever had before. I have hobbies again. I take breaks! My work gets done, and I feel good to take a break. I can listen to my own needs in a more intuitive manner.

I would recommend Claire to anyone who is struggling to get out of their own way with their career goals—or may not even quite know what their career goals are! I entered with the expectation of more organized work, but left feeling empowered to have a more balanced life. Thank you, Claire!

Dana Prewitt, PhD

Assistant Professor of Sociology St. Charles Community College

I sought coaching to assist with my transition to a new position professionally. It was important to me to transition with confidence and grace, so I sought out coaching to assist with processing the transition over 6 weeks.

Being coached through my transition allowed me to really dive into some of the limitations I was setting for myself and really allowed me to break down some barriers preventing me from being a confident leader in the workplace. Each week, Claire and I discussed a topic of my choice and developed a framework that allowed me to transform my thinking in a way that promoted what I inherently offer in the workplace, rather than focusing on how I must change myself to fit a preconstructed mold.

Claire's ethic of care extended through the coaching process was genuine and felt so personal. Every week I left our sessions feeling heard and affirmed.

I appreciated Claire's clear communication and willingness to be flexible as my schedule called for it. She was kind in all interactions and always sought to support me in my coaching experience.

I am taking more than I ever imagined from my transition coaching with Claire. Each week, I created a post-it with the biggest takeaway from our conversation and placed it on my computer monitor. These post-its represent frameworks for approaching my work in confidence, rather than in fear. These frameworks challenge me to step into my work each day knowing I am worthy of my position and I have so much to offer. They allow me to focus on myself rather than consistently worrying about the external forces around me. They bring me balance and are a constant check-point.

Claire has an uncanny ability to disarm those in the room and immediately create a safe and trusting space, meeting individuals where they are in their journey. Her warmth, care, and holistic approach to development allows those she interacts with to truly be themselves using empathy and grace to engage in meaningful conversations to ground others in their vision and values to allow everyone to reach their full potential.

From my experience in Claire’s Change Challenge, I understand that a lot of things can get in the way of me achieving my goals and it takes effort and intentional choices to not let that happen. Sometimes it just happens and there is nothing I can do about it in the moment, but I have learned that the minute I realize that my attitude, my words, my body, my mind, or my actions are heading in a direction that is not productive or healthy for the situation, I have a choice to change course. I always have the choice to change course instead of letting my emotions and feelings direct my next move without putting them in check. The "pause" (what I like to call it) is so important in the moment so you can pivot and adjust to create a different atmosphere or experience for yourself and others if that is a more positive and healthy path to take.

President at Spartan Warrior, LLP and Author of  Bold Moves: Diary of a First Time Marathoner

I am a retired Chief Engineer, Advanced Manufacturing, from a major vehicle manufacturing company and now the owner of my own business.  I enjoyed a successful career as a leader spanning 30 years across 3 industries, beginning with the U.S. Army as one of the early female graduates of the United States Military Academy (West Point).  Leadership is not only my passion it has been my life-long calling.

I highly recommend Claire Becker Coaching to anyone who is truly invested in living an intentional, purposeful, joy-filled life. Claire is a masterful coach; her innate intuitive abilities allow her to guide clients to a deeper understanding of themselves which enables them to achieve the goals they set.  These goals can be professional, personal, or both.  She has a comfortable, yet professional style.

As a new business owner I have found it helpful to identify a small group of people, my own mini Board of Advisors, to confer and collaborate with for ongoing mutual support, advice, ideation and counsel.  Claire has been invaluable to me as a business owner, supporting my growth and propelling me to excel toward my vision.

Before I started coaching with Claire, I felt a bit unfocused and without clear direction. I spent a lot of my work day feeling wrapped up in 'go' mode, constantly executing on plans and actions made by somebody else. I didn't understand, value, or like many of the major parts of my role because, to put it simply, I hadn't taken the time to make connections with them.

Going through the coaching process with Claire allowed me to reground in the values I hold in highest priority and do three main things:

    1. See how aspects of my role already connect to my values

    2. See how aspects of my role can be changed slightly to be more aligned with my values, and

    3. Identify areas of opportunity for me to have creative agency and try something new.

This shifted the way I was thinking about my work totally. I went from centering on my own deficits that surfaced as I attempted to keep up with the tasks and responsibilities given to me, to setting a clear equity-centered vision and seeing how each aspect of my role is or could be in service to that vision. I feel re-energized, re-focused, and re-invested. I am able to approach each day with a new confidence rooted in having a clear purpose. More practically, I know what I want my career to look feel and be like next year (which wasn't true before coaching).

I would recommend Claire Becker Coaching to anyone who feels more task-oriented than vision-oriented: you can and should (re)ignite your passion and purpose in your work!

    Co-Founder & President, LiberatED

Through coaching with Claire I gained more self awareness and self acknowledgement.

I realized that the thing I'm most passionate about I rarely talk about or own. I had to do a lot of unpacking to see that even though I'm "successful" I still suffer from impostor syndrome and it's keeping me from taking risks and taking ownership over my career.

Claire supported me with examples and questions to push my reflections. It was especially helpful when we had to trace back because it served as a bar for my own reflections and helped me get to a more meaningful place.

Not too long ago, I made a big life choice and decided to leave the job I loved without a plan. I left because I knew I was no longer the right person for the evolving role and it was time to make space for someone else. I also recognized I’d spent the majority of my life placing more value on the opinion of others than my own self-worth. I needed to change that. Soon after, I set the phrases “I am Worthy. I am Enough.” as my intentions and soon realized intent would only get me so far. I knew I needed a trusted partner to help me think deeply about my purpose AND hold me accountable to it. Enter Claire!

Claire is so intentional with her words and questions; they feel both deeply personalized and incredibly insightful. Though the majority of our time together was focused on my professional career, Claire always reminded me to consider who I am as a whole person. As a coach, she strikes a perfect balance of insight, challenge, and humor. Looking back, I realize how much confidence I was able to build through the exercises we did together. Not surprisingly (though at the time, I was a bit shocked!) our work led me to apply for, and be selected, for a literal dream job even though I originally counted myself out. Had I not been working with Claire, I know I would not have seen myself as Worthy; I would have said yes to the wrong things, but she coached me to look for the right "Yes!".  Since then, I have set a new intention on doing what FUELS me. Because of her coaching, I am more intentional about how I move about the world, both in my personal and professional life, and for that I am eternally grateful!

I was looking to approach professional development in a different way. Not necessarily someone that was going to give me the answers, but help me get to those answers myself. It was really fluid, open conversation to help me think through what it was I wanted to accomplish, what I needed to do differently as well as she could help me through that process as well. We identified goals on the front end and manifest a positive outlook so that really becomes my reality. I was able to work through it myself with her guiding me through that process. I was more stable, really in a place I felt more comfortable in those areas than when we started.

“…This coaching brough a whole new level of confidence and self-esteem that I’d never had. It made it very clear that I can do this job. I just wiped away the feeling of having to do it alone.”
